Salomon Friedrich Stiebel
Salomon Friedrich Stiebel (born April 20, 1792 in Frankfurt am Main ; † May 20, 1868 there ) was a doctor.
Life
Although he came from a poor background, Stiebel was able to attend grammar school. With the intention of studying philology, he enrolled at the University of Heidelberg in the spring , but soon switched to medical studies, which he continued in Berlin. In 1813/14 he took part in the wars of liberation among the Lützow hunters as a battalion doctor under the name Baer . In 1815 he completed his studies in Göttingen.
He settled as a doctor in Frankfurt, where he co-founded the Senckenberg Natural Research Society . In 1819 Salomon Stiebel was admitted to the Frankfurt Freemason Lodge Zur Aufstieg Morgenroethe , in which many Jewish doctors were members; In 1825 he became their master of the chair .
He left his position as a doctor at the hospital to his son Friedrich Julius Stiebel (called Fritz; 1824–1902; prom. 1847).
His grave in Frankfurt's main cemetery is an honor grave .
