Salomon Honegger

Salomon Honegger (born April 10, 1774 in Zurich ; † March 22, 1830 in Rüti ) was a Swiss entrepreneur .

Life

Salomon Honegger, who came from a humble background, his father Heinrich was a tailor in Riesbach , which today belongs to the city of Zurich, initially worked as a servant in the rectory of Rüti together with his wife Regula, whom he married in 1796 . Then Honegger worked as a farmer, peddler , hand spinner and hand weaver in Ferrach in the municipality of Rüti and finally ran a silk factory . In 1811 he established business contacts with the Brändli cotton spinning mill in Jona , where he was responsible for processing cotton and his wife for feeding the factory workers. In 1814 Honegger acquired two mechanical spinning mills and in 1816 set up the Wydacker factory with eight spinning mills and 2000 spindles. In 1827 he handed the business over to his sons Caspar and Heinrich.

Salomon Honegger died in Rüti in 1830 at the age of 55.
