Salomon Lefmann

Salomon Lefmann (born December 25, 1831 in Telgte , Westphalia , † January 14, 1912 in Heidelberg ) was a German philologist .

Lefmann attended the Jewish school in his hometown. He studied at the Universities of Münster , Heidelberg , Berlin and Paris (doctorate in Berlin 1864). During his studies in Heidelberg in 1861 he became a member of the Frankonia Heidelberg fraternity . In 1866 he became a private lecturer and in 1870 an associate professor for Sanskrit in Heidelberg.

He was also involved in the German spelling reform as well as in the Jewish community and was also president of the Zedaka poor welfare association .
