The Salt Lake Screaming Eagles are an arena football team from West Valley City, Utah that currently plays in the Indoor Football League (IFL). The Screaming Eagles play their home games at the Maverik Center .
history
The Sreaming Eagles were founded in 2016 and completed their first season in 2017. Salt Lake is a special club. Founder Sohrob Farudi wanted to build an arena football club that was completely designed and supported by fans. The project is called "Project FANchise".
This started with the naming. For a long time the name "Utah Teamy McTeamfaces" was in the first place of the vote. Sohrob Farudi said in an interview that whatever team name should be chosen, he will be 100% behind it. He personally doesn't hope that the name Teamy McTeamfaces will catch on because he doesn't even want to know what the logo would look like.
Another bizarre peculiarity is that the fans also decide which coach and which players will be signed and which of the players will be set up for the next game. A fan survey decided that former NFL pro bowler Greg Hardy shouldn't be signed, which was ultimately not realized.
On April 20, 2017, the Wall Street Journal reported that the Screaming Eagles will move to the newly formed Interactive League after the 2017 season. The special thing about the league is that fans can now choose and announce game systems in the stadium or at home in front of the computer.
IFL season 2017
After initial difficulties when only one of the first 9 games was won, the Screaming Eagles caught up at the end of the season and ended the round with 5 wins out of 11 defeats in 4th place in the Intense Conference. The playoffs were missed as a result.
Defensive back James Calhoun was elected to the All-IFL 1st Team after the season.
Stadion
The Screaming Eagles play their home games in the Maverik Center, which can hold around 10,000 spectators. They share the stadium with the ECHL team of the Utah Grizzlies , among others .
