Sam (dog)
Sam (* 1991 , † November 2005 in Santa Barbara ) was a Chinese crested dog - dog . He has been named the "ugliest dog in the world" several times and also became known through TV appearances.
Sam belonged to the American Susie Lockheed. Lockheed had adopted Sam from its previous owner prior to 1999. She wanted to give the dog to the shelter . The dog became known for its wrinkled brown skin, countless warts and moles , vampire-like teeth and paws that were overgrown by its thick knots and crooked nails. Appearances on TV shows had made the dog famous as the ugliest dog in the world .
Sam won the Worlds Ugliest Dog election from 2003 to 2005. This earned him an appearance on the Carson Daly Show with Donald Trump and on the Criss Angel Mindfreak show . A website was set up for the dog, which often collapsed under the onslaught of countless fans. Lockheed had the dog euthanized in Santa Barbara in 2005 because of old age and heart failure .
