style

Sam Totman is the main songwriter for DragonForce. Most of the band's songs come from his pen, Frédéric Leclercq only grew to an equal size next to him after Maximum Overload . Totman's guitar solos contain shred elements of all kinds, especially quick sweep picking runs, tapping and quick alternate picking sequences . Two-part passages that he plays with his bandmate Herman Li are also very common. Overall, his guitar playing is hardly less virtuoso than the Lis, but Totman is less experimental in terms of effects.

Sam Totman, like Herman Li, had a signature guitar built by Ibanez ; the Ibanez STM .
