Samih Hasan Schukri Salim (or Sameh Hassan Shoukry , Arabic سامح حسن شكري سليم, Born October 20, 1952 in Cairo ) is an Egyptian diplomat and since June 17, 2014 Foreign Minister of Egypt , first in the cabinet of Ibrahim Mehlab , since September 2015 in the government of Sherif Ismail . Shoukry took over the office from Nabil Fahmi .

Life

Samih Schukri graduated from Ain Shams University in 1975 with a degree in law and initially worked from 1976 to 1978 as an attaché to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then as counselor in London and Buenos Aires . He pursued various activities in the Egyptian government apparatus before he was appointed as the special power of ambassador for Egypt in Austria and representative of international organizations in Vienna, in the context of which he was involved in the negotiation of the Convention against Transnational Organized Crime from 1999 to 2003 . Schukri was Egypt's permanent representative to the United Nations in Geneva from 2005 to 2008 and, most recently, from 2008 to 2012 Egypt's ambassador to the United States .

Samih Schukri is married and has two children. He speaks Arabic, English and Spanish.
