Samir Arabi

Samir Arabi (born February 2, 1979 in Aachen ) is a German football official . He has been Managing Director Sport at DSC Arminia Bielefeld GmbH & Co. KGaA since the beginning of September 2016 , after having been employed as the sporting director since the end of March 2011.

Career

Arabi started his career at Alemannia Aachen . After initially playing as a player in the Aachen youth team, he became youth coach at Alemannia in 2002. From 2006 onwards, Arabi worked as a scout in Aachen and finally rose to become chief scout at Alemannia in 2008. In this role he discovered talents like Zoltán Stieber and Tobias Feisthammel . On March 25, 2011, the relegation-threatened second division Arminia Bielefeld announced his commitment as sporting director. On February 14, 2013 Samir Arabi signed an open-ended contract as the sporting director of Arminia, which had meanwhile been relegated to the 3rd division . From a sporting point of view, he led the club with Stefan Krämer as a coach for its recovery in 2013 .

In the following season 2013/14 Arminia rose under Arabi and the coaches Stefan Krämer and then Norbert Meier back into the 3rd division. In the 2014/15 season, Arminia, under the direction of Samir Arabi and Norbert Meier, achieved immediate promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga and the championship in the 3rd division. In addition, the team put together by Norbert Meier and Samir Arabi reached the semi-finals of the DFB Cup. In September 2016, Arabi was appointed Managing Director Sport at DSC Arminia Bielefeld GmbH & Co. KGaA . In the 2019/20 season, Arminia Bielefeld, under the leadership of Samir Arabi and Uwe Neuhaus, was promoted back to the first Bundesliga as champions of the second division and ended the eleven-year abstinence.
