Zoltán Stieber (born October 16, 1988 in Sárvár , Vas County ) is a Hungarian football player . The left winger is under contract with Zalaegerszegi TE FC and was active for the Hungarian national team .

Career

Stieber began playing football at the age of seven at the Sárvár FC club , which was based in his birthplace . At the age of eleven he went to Győri ETO FC and two years later to the Budapest club Goldball'94 FC . At the age of 14 he moved to the youth department of Újpest Budapest .

In 2005 he moved to the Aston Villa youth academy , where he played for the junior and reserve teams. He was loaned to third division club Yeovil Town in November 2007 . After 15 appearances for the southern English club, the left winger returned to Aston Villa. There he took part in the season preparation of the first team, but had not come to a league assignment until Christmas 2008. He then decided to move to the German second division club TuS Koblenz , for whom he made his league debut on January 30, 2009 (18th matchday) in a 0-0 home game against Rot-Weiß Oberhausen . In the remaining 16 second round games he was part of the regular staff and scored five goals. Since his contract, which was valid until June 30, 2011, was only valid for the second division, the contractual relationship ended after the club was relegated to the third division .

For the 2010/11 season he moved to the second division Alemannia Aachen . There he was used in all games of the season, scored ten goals and prepared twelve more. For the 2011/12 season he moved to Bundesliga club 1. FSV Mainz 05 , for whom he made his debut on August 7, 2011 (1st matchday) in a 2-0 home win against Bayer 04 Leverkusen . For the 2012/13 season he signed a four-year contract with first division promoted SpVgg Greuther Fürth . He scored his first Bundesliga goal on October 19, 2012 (8th matchday) in a 3: 3 away game against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim with the goal to make it 1: 1 in the 39th minute.

From the 2014/15 season , Stieber played for the Bundesliga club Hamburger SV , against whom he had previously missed promotion with SpVgg Greuther Fürth in the relegation . He signed a contract with HSV that was valid until June 30, 2017. In the away win against SC Paderborn 07 on February 4, 2015 (19th matchday), he scored his first Bundesliga goal for Hamburg.

In January 2016, Stieber was awarded to the second division club 1. FC Nürnberg until the end of the season . He scored his first competitive goal for FCN in the 2-1 home win against 1. FC Kaiserslautern on March 4, 2016 with the winning goal in the 89th minute. When celebrating the goal, he took off his jersey and was sent off by referee Florian Meyer with the second yellow card . At the beginning of the 2016/17 season , Stieber moved to 1. FC Kaiserslautern. A year later he went to Major League Soccer for the US team DC United .

National team

After Stieber had already played international matches for junior teams of different age groups from 2007 to 2010 , he made his debut in the senior national team on September 2, 2011 in Budapest in the European Championship qualifier in a 2-1 win over the Swedish team when he was 65. Minute for Tamás Hajnal was substituted on. He scored his first international goal on June 5, 2015 in a 4-0 win in a friendly against Lithuania . He scored his first competitive goal with the goal of a 1-0 win against Finland on June 13, 2015 in Helsinki in the qualifier for the 2016 European Championship . Stieber qualified with the team through the playoffs for the finals. In May 2016, national coach Bernd Storck nominated him for the Hungarian squad for the European Championship in France . In the tournament he scored a goal and was used in three games of his team, which failed in the round of 16 against Belgium .
