Löffler Collection

The Werner Löffler Collection is a private collection of historic seating furniture from three centuries in Reichenschwand in Central Franconia . With over 2000 exhibits, it is one of the largest in Europe.

history

In 1987 Werner Löffler, Managing Director of Löffler GmbH, bought the first exhibit, the Theodora armchair from Ettore Sottsass . This was followed by exhibits by Bär + Knell, Günter Beltzig , Marcel Breuer , Tom Dixon , Charles and Ray Eames , Frank O. Gehry , Willy Guhl , Josef Hoffmann , Grete Jalk, Richard Riemerschmid , Claudio Salocchi, Philippe Starck , Gebrüder Thonet , Otto Wagner . Werner Löffler pays great attention to scientific documentation that provides information about the designer, manufacturer and historical background of the development of the individual exhibits.

Accompanied by curator Simone Krach-Kestin and Heidemarie Leitner, both MA, the exhibits from the 1960s, 1980s and 1990s as well as from style eras from the 19th century onwards were scientifically processed. They have been presented to the public since October 2010.
