Verbund collection

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Verbund collection was launched in 2004 by Verbund , Austria's largest electricity company. The company's collection focuses on contemporary international art with a focus on feminist art from 1970 to the present day.

Content

The works are selected by a board of trustees made up of Gabriele Schor (director), Jessica Morgan (director of the Dia Art Foundation , New York) and Camille Morineau (exhibition director of Monnaie de Paris ).

The maxim of the collection is “depth instead of breadth”. Her focus is on entire groups of works such as the early work of Cindy Sherman and the feminist avant-garde ( Francesca Woodman , Eleonor Antin , Hannah Wilke , Birgit Jürgenssen , Renate Bertlmann , Valie Export , Ana Mendieta , Ketty La Rocca , Suzy Lake , Martha Wilson , Annegret Soltau  ua) as well as on works on the topic of spaces / places (including Gordon Matta-Clark , Fred Sandback , Jeff Wall , Loan Nguyen , Teresa Hubbard / Alexander Birchler ).

In addition to large collection presentations in national and international museums, a changing selection of works will be shown in the vertical gallery of the Verbund headquarters at the court in Vienna - remodeled by the architect Christian Knechtl. The Vertical Gallery is freely accessible by prior arrangement as part of an art talk.

Yellow fog

Yellow fog

With Yellow Fog by Ólafur Elíasson , Verbund installed an intervention in public space in October 2008 that can be experienced every day at dusk on the facade of the Verbund headquarters. This artistic work focuses on the transition from day to night and subtly draws attention to the change in the daily rhythm.
