The Samson Remote Controlled Weapon Station ( RCWS ), also known as Katlanit ( Hebrew קטלנית) Is a remote control weapon station ( remote weapon station ) that can be installed on vehicles or fixed platforms. It was designed in Israel by the Rafael company and is still produced and sold today. The Katlanit is used, among other things, to increase the combat value of off-road and armored vehicles .

Several SRCWS are also posted in bunkers along the Israeli border with the Gaza Strip in order to be able to repel attackers with a low risk of self-harm.

technical description

The system consists of a weapon platform on which various weapons can be mounted, including machine guns in caliber 5.56 , 7.62 and 12.7 mm , as well as 40 mm grenade launchers, anti-tank guided weapons and mere observation stations.

Depending on the inserted armament, the system is called Samson Jr. , Samson Mini , Samson Dual , or Samson 30mm .

The device can be used accurately both in daylight and at night and is controlled via a touch-sensitive screen inside the vehicle. It is also air-transportable .

The katlanite is widely used internationally beyond its home country Israel.
