Samuel Carlisi

Samuel A. Carlisi aka "Black Sam" , "Sam Wings" (born December 15, 1914 in Chicago ; † January 2, 1997 ibid), was an American mobster and former boss of the Chicago outfit .

Life

Samuel A. Carlisi began as a driver of Joseph Aiuppa than this Boss on the "street crew" (am .: road team) outfit in Cicero (Illinois) was.

He got his nickname Wings because he was traveling all over the USA as a courier for the family in the 1970s. When Joseph Ferriola became the boss of the outfit , Carlisi was promoted to "underboss". He was probably involved in the murders of Michael and Tony Spilotro .

In 1986 he and his bosses were convicted of skimming the casinos in Las Vegas . When Ferriola died, he became the head of the outfit .

On December 15, 1992 he stood together with his driver and deputy James Marcello - and five other members (including Anthony Zizzo , Anthony Chiaramonti , Gill Valerio ) from his "street crew" in the western suburbs of Chicago - before the court. On December 16, 1993, all of the accused were sentenced under the charges.

In 1996 a sentence of 13 years was given. As in his cancer was diagnosed, he gave control of the daily operations of the outfit on.

In the meantime he was tried in 1993 together with his successor John DiFronzo , who was accused of numerous crimes in San Diego . Both are said to have tried to gain control of the gambling in the Ricon Reservation . The charges were put down and DiFronzo was released in 1994.

On January 2, 1997, Carlisi died of a heart attack while serving his sentence.
