Samuel Epstein (medic)

Samuel S. Epstein (born April 13, 1926 in Middlesbrough , Yorkshire , England; † March 18, 2018 in Chicago ) was a physician and professor of environmental medicine at the University of Illinois, USA. He became known for his contributions to environmental medicine and cancer prevention.

Epstein was leaked private and secret documents of the Monsanto Group anonymously . These documents showed that attempts were made to cover up the danger posed by the growth hormone Posilac to the general public and in particular to dairy cattle. Posilac is said to increase milk production from dairy cattle. Epstein was, after all, the one who informed the public about it.

According to his theories, the increased incidence of cancer today is largely due to chemicals such as Posilac, which are found everywhere in the environment and accumulate in the food chain.

In 1998, Epstein received the Right Livelihood Award for “his exemplary scientific work and his commitment to preventing cancers caused by pollution” .
