Samuel Moritz Pappenheim
Samuel Moritz Pappenheim (born April 8, 1811 in Breslau ; † February 10, 1882 in Berlin ) was a German doctor and researcher.
In 1836, together with Jan Evangelista Purkyně (1787–1869), he hypothesized that the secretion of the pancreas contained a “digestive substance” for proteins . The starch- splitting property of the pancreatic juice was confirmed by Gabriel Gustav Valentin in 1844. In 1843 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .
