Samuli Saarela (born March 17, 1988 ) is a Finnish mountain bike orienteer .

career

Saarela won his first medal at world championships in Israel in 2009 with the Finnish relay. Behind the seasons of Russia and the Czech Republic, the Finns Tuukka Turkka , Saarela and Juho Saarinen finished third. The following year he became world champion for the first time in Montalegre, Portugal . In the middle distance he won the title ahead of the Australian Adrian Jackson and the Italian Luca Dallavalle . In 2011 he defended his title and also became world champion in the long distance. He also finished third with the Finnish season. In 2012 he became middle distance world champion for the third time in a row. With Pekka Niemi and Jussi Laurila he was also world champion with the relay. In 2013 he was also European champion with the relay. At the 2013 World Championships in Rakvere , Estonia , he won two silver medals and one bronze medal.

He has won twelve titles at Finnish championships since 2005 (as of 2013). He is a member of the Kokkolan Suunnistajat Association .
