history

Tulsa Talons

The Talons were founded in 2000 as Tulsa Talons and started in the Development League of the Arena Football League (AFL), the af2, where they played for ten years.

The Talons could move into the playoffs in each of their af2 seasons. In the first two years, but always ended in the first round.

The highlight so far came in 2003 when the Talons won the ArenaCup . On August 23, 2003, they beat the Macon Knights with 58:40 and won the title.

Up to and including 2006 the playoffs were reached again, a further final participation could not be realized.

In 2007 the Talons were crowned ArenaCup champions again. The Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Pioneers could be defeated in the final on August 25, 2007 with 73:66. It was the second league title in their history.

After further playoffs in 2008 and 2009, af2 was dissolved. The Talons continued to play in the Arena Football League (AFL).

While the first play-off round was reached in the first AFL season in 2010, this was missed in 2011 for the first time in history. The worst season in the club's history ended with 8 wins and 10 losses.

San Antonio Talons

For the 2012 season, the franchise moved to San Antonio. According to a report, the reason for this was poor ticket sales.

The three seasons of the San Antonio Talons were semi-optimal. While they reached the playoffs in 2012, they could not build on in the next two seasons. After the 2014 season, the talons broke up.
