San Ignacio is a city with about 4,500 inhabitants in the south of the Mexican state of Sinaloa and the administrative seat of the Municipio San Ignacio . The city is also known as San Ignacio de Piaxtla . It is at an altitude of 151 meters.
history
San Ignacio was founded in 1633 by the Jesuit father Diego González Cueto.
Others
The city is located in the area of the Sinaloa cartel, one of the most powerful drug cartels in Mexico. In 2014, twelve bodies were found in an off-road vehicle in San Ignacio. The victims showed signs of torture and burns, reported the newspaper El Debate .
