San Ignacio is a place in the Mexican state of Baja California Sur on the border with the state of Baja California with about 700 inhabitants. San Ignacio is in the middle of the wasteland between Guerrero Negro and Santa Rosalía . In 1728 the Jesuit Juan Bautista Loyando set up a mission here and named it after the founder of his order, St. Ignatius of Loyola .
