San Leonardo da Porto Maurizio ad Acilia is the Roman Catholic parish church of the same parish in the southwestern direction Ostia nearby Roman outskirts Acilia in Municipio Roma X (Via Ludovico Antomelli 1).

history

The church is considered the mother church of the suburb Acilia. The first inhabitants of the suburb were resettled in 1913 from the area of ​​the Centro Storico because of archaeological excavations on the previously undeveloped site of the Ager Romanus . The parish church was built in 1936 by the architect Francesco Fornari in a stripped - down neo-Romanesque style. In the same year the parish was founded, which has been looked after by the Franciscan Minorites ever since . On November 30, 1980 she was visited by Pope John Paul II . It was elevated to the title Church on November 19, 2016 by Pope Francis .
