Sebastian Koto Khoarai
Sebastian Koto Cardinal Khoarai OMI (born September 11, 1929 in Koaling, Lesotho ) is a cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church and emeritus bishop of Mohale's Hoek in Lesotho (1978-2014).
Life
Sebastian Koto Khoarai was born on September 11, 1929 in Koaling in the diocese of Leribe and was only baptized Catholic at the age of 21.
In 1950 he joined the Order of the Oblates of the Immaculate Virgin Mary and was ordained a priest on December 21, 1956 .
Bishop of Mohale's Hoek
Pope Paul VI appointed him in 1977 as the first bishop of the newly founded Diocese of Mohale's Hoek. He was ordained bishop on April 2, 1978 by the Archbishop of Maseru , Alfonso Liguori Morapeli OMI; Co- consecrators were Joseph Patrick Fitzgerald , Archbishop of Johannesburg , and Paul Khoarai , Bishop of Leribe . Through Archbishop Morapeli, Khoarai's Apostolic Succession goes back 21 generations to Cardinal Rebiba .

Khoarai was 1982-1987 President of the Episcopal Conference of Lesotho (Lesotho Catholic Bishops' Conference, short LCBC).
Pope Francis accepted his age-related resignation on February 11, 2014.

In the consistory of November 19, 2016, Pope Francis accepted him as a cardinal priest with the titular church of San Leonardo da Porto Maurizio ad Acilia into the college of cardinals . He is the first cardinal from Lesotho.
