Marcantonio Colonna (born August 16, 1724 in Rome , † December 4, 1793 there ) was cardinal and bishop .

Life

He came from the extensive Roman noble family Colonna , which produced a total of 24 cardinals.

Raised cardinal deacon on September 24, 1759 , he received the titular church of S. Maria in Aquiro on November 19, 1759 . He received on 11 February 1760 minor orders , on March 9, 1760 diaconate and on February 1, 1761 ordination . Already on February 19, 1762 appointed cardinal priest of Santa Maria della Pace , Pope Clement XIII appointed him . on April 19, 1762, titular Archbishop of Corinthus and donated him himself, with the assistance of Cardinals Giovanni Francesco Albani and Henry Benedict Mary Clement Stuart of York , on April 25, 1762 in the Paulus Chapel of the Quirinal Palace, the episcopal ordination . Appointed Vicar General of the Pope on April 20, 1762 , he became Camerlengo in 1770 and 1771 . On June 25, 1784 appointed Cardinal Priest of San Lorenzo in Lucina , he was elevated to Cardinal Bishop of Palestrina on September 20, 1784 .

He died on December 4, 1793 and was buried in the Roman basilica of Santi XII Apostoli , the family church of Colonna.
