Sanamacha Chanu
Thing Baijan Sanamacha Chanu (born January 2, 1978 in Imphal ) is a former Indian weightlifter .
Career
She reached the sixth place in the class up to 50 kg at the 1997 World Championships . At the Asian Games in 1998 she was seventh in the class up to 53 kg. In 1999 she started at the Asian Championships in the class up to 48 kg and won the silver medal in the duel and silver in the push and bronze in the snatch. At the Asian Championships in 2000 she was three times world champion in the class up to 53 kg. In the same year she took part in the Olympic Games in Sydney, where she finished sixth.
She won gold three times at the 2002 Commonwealth Games . In 2003 she was seventh at the World Championships . At the 2004 Asian Championships , she finished sixth. In Athens she reached fourth place at the 2004 Olympic Games . However, she was tested positive during the subsequent doping control and banned for two years. After her suspension, she finished fifth at the 2007 Asian Championships .
