from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sandagergård station is a base for electronic reconnaissance of the Danish Military Intelligence Service Forsvarets Efterretningstjeneste (FE) in Sandagergård at Aflandshage , south of Copenhagen . It is part of the Echelon network. Another SIGINT post is located in Skibsbylejren near Hjørring and a large station near Jylland . There were also connections to the former Allied Command Baltic Approaches , the regional NATO command for the Baltic region at the Karup military base .

history

The Danish Ekstra Bladet published an article on September 18, 1999 about a visit to Sandagergård. According to this article, Denmark has been cooperating with the UKUSA network since 1947 and is a member of Echelon. The agreement was therefore signed by Cdr. PA Mørch, the second head of FE, closed with the US Office of Strategic Services (OSS) (now the CIA). In return for providing the technology, the Danes promised the USA all the information they had obtained. In 1950 the agreement was formalized by Commander Finn Haugsted and Defense Minister Rasmus Hansen . In 1999, the then Social Democratic Minister for Justice, Defense and Science denied having known about the Echelon program.
