Sandalphon

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The angel Sandalphon ( Hebrew סנדלפון, Greek Σανδαλφών), also Sandalfon , is called Metatron's twin brother in Jewish mythology . His name could stand for Metatron himself, since Metatron was considered the first and highest being created by God. The American poet Longfellow praises him as the angel of prayer in his poem Sandalphon .

Some sources equate Sandalphon with the prophet Elijah .
