Sandra Benčić

Sandra Benčić (born January 28, 1978 in Zabok ) is a Croatian civil rights activist and politician ( Možemo! ).

Life

Sandra Benčić studied law at the University of Zagreb .

She is involved in the civil rights movement Centar za mirovne studije (CMS, Center for Peace Studies ). In 2012, she was appointed by the Croatian Parliament's Human Rights Committee as a member of the Complaints Commission at the Ministry of the Interior, where citizens can complain about police misconduct. In the period from November 2006 to January 2007, Benčić was spied on by the Croatian secret service SOA . The Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia found in 2014 that this was illegal. As a result, she was awarded compensation by a Zagreb court in 2016.

In the 2020 parliamentary elections , in Možemo! As part of the party alliance Zeleno – lijeva koalicija (Green-Left coalition), Benčić was elected Sabor MP. She is chair of the environmental committee there.
