Sandro Gozi (born March 25, 1968 in Sogliano al Rubicone ) is an Italian politician ( PD ) and was State Secretary for European Affairs in the governments of Matteo Renzi and Paolo Gentiloni from February 28, 2012 to June 1, 2018 .

Sandro Gozi studied law at the University of Bologna and after graduating there continued his studies in Bologna , London , Paris and Brussels . In 1996 Gozi began working with the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs . From 2000 to 2004 he was a member of the cabinet of the President of the European Commission Romano Prodi . After entering the Italian Parliament in 2006, he was appointed President of the “Schengen, Europol, Immigration” committee and Chairman of the Federal Intergroup for the European Constitution. He also acted as a member of the Political Committee of the European Union . In 2013 Gozi was appointed Vice-President of the Italian Delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and Co-President of the Intergroup Federal Parliamentary Working Group for the United States of Europe. Gozi is also Vice President of the Italian Council of the European Movement and President of the Union of European Federalists UEF.

Gozi also teaches (as of mid-2019) at the Paris School of Political Science Sciences Po .

In July 2019 it was announced that the French Prime Minister had appointed Édouard Philippe Gozi as one of his advisors on European issues (“Conseiller Europe”). The Secrétariat général des affaires européennes in the Philippe II cabinet is headed by the French Sandrine Gaudin.
