Sandro Mattioli
Sandro Mattioli (* 1975 in Heilbronn ) is a German - Italian journalist and author who researches and reports on the Italian Mafia .
Life
Mattioli studied general rhetoric , modern history and empirical cultural studies in Tübingen and Rome . After graduating, he did an internship at the Stuttgarter Zeitung and from 2008 worked as a freelance journalist in Rome. He is chairman of the Berlin Mafia? No thanks! .

In 2010, the book “Fool Guide Italy. How to pretend to be Italian ”, 2011 the book“ Die Müll-Mafia. The criminal network in Europe ”, in which Mattioli and his co-author Andrea Palladino tell the story of criminal waste disposal. The focus is on four protagonists: Gianfranco Posa, a Calabrian anti-Mafia activist; Natale De Grazia, an Italian investigator who mysteriously died in 1995 and tried to track down the perpetrators of the sinking of toxic waste ships in the Mediterranean; Ilaria Alpi , a young Italian journalist who was shot with her cameraman Miran Hrovatin in Somalia in 1994 while researching the link between garbage exports and the arms trade; and Stefan Weber, a former Greenpeace activist , who also fought politically against the garbage networks and made a significant contribution to the fact that the dirty trade was put in its place by means of international conventions. The Neue Zürcher Zeitung calls the book a “compact, readable overview of an explosive topic that will continue to cause explosions in the future.” In 2010 he made public that one of the largest anti-mafia raids in the world had also led to arrests in Germany. For Stern, Mattioli revealed in 2012 that HSH Nordbank had financed a wind farm from which the ' ndrangheta clan of the Arena family benefits.
In 2017 he made the documentary The Poison of the Mafia .
