Parish church of Niederkreuzstetten
The parish church of Niederkreuzstetten is located at the eastern edge of the village of Niederkreuzstetten in the municipality of Kreuzstetten in the Mistelbach district in Lower Austria . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to the patronage of James the Elder , belongs to the Wolkersdorf deanery in the vicariate Unter dem Manhartsberg of the Archdiocese of Vienna . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).
history
The church on the eastern edge of Niederkreuzstetten was named as a parish church in 1207. The Gothic choir was built in the 15th century. The nave and the tower were built in 1923 according to the plans of the architect Karl Holey .
architecture
The polygonal closed choir has buttresses with pent roofs and pointed arched windows. The nave over an octagonal floor plan with buttresses and pointed arched windows has low ring-shaped extensions in the west and north. The west tower in front of the nave is marked above the portal with 1667, 1923 and 1933, the bell storey has sloping corners , arched windows and a tent roof. At the choir in the north there is a baroque addition to a sacristy, in the south there is a new sacristy annex.
The single-bay choir with a five-eighth closure has a ribbed vault with relief keystones, rosette and star . In the south wall of the choir is a coupled session niche with a pointed triangular gable and tracery. The nave has a barrel vault with deeply piercing lancet caps and has a pointed arched triumphal arch to the choir. The north aisle under a lance-cap barrel is open to the nave with three pointed arch arcades. The organ loft on two six-sided pillars is vaulted under the groin. The baroque sacristy has a groin vault.
Furnishing
The high altar with the free-standing cafeteria and a crucifixion group in the background is from the middle of the 20th century.
The organ was built in 1941 by Johann M. Kauffmann .
