Sanjay Gupta
Sanjay Gupta (born October 23, 1969 in Novi (Michigan) ) is an American neurosurgeon and author. He is an assistant professor in the medical school at Emory University . He became known for his various programs and guest posts on CNN , in 2006 he received an Emmy for his contributions during Hurricane Katrina . He also writes a column for Time and is a correspondent for CBS News .
The television series Monday Mornings was conceived after his book Monday Mornings: A Novel .
Gupta is of Indian origin and grew up in Novi (Michigan) . He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedicine from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor and his 1993 MD from the University of Michigan Medical School. After a residency in neurosurgery, he worked as a neurosurgeon at Grady Memorial Hospital.
In 2019, Gupta was elected to the National Academy of Medicine .
Sanjay Gupta is married and has three daughters.
