St. Norbert is a Catholic parish church in the market town of Höchberg in the Lower Franconian district of Würzburg . It was built in 1981/82 according to plans by the local architect Rainer Gärtner. The modern tent roof construction characterizes the townscape of the Hexenbruch district.

history

The beginning of the community is the church foundation St. Norbert, which was established in 1967 by a foundation act of the Würzburg bishop Josef Stangl . Four years later, a community kindergarten was set up in the Rupert Egenberger School at Hexenbruch. In 1974 a community center was built on Seeweg. Until its inauguration on December 1, 1974, the services took place in the auditorium of the special school.

At the beginning of the 1980s it was decided to build a new parish church. The spiritual council and the parish decided in favor of the design by the architects Gärtner und Hench from Höchberg. He envisaged a “tent of God among men”. The groundbreaking ceremony for the new building took place on March 22, 1981, and the foundation stone was laid on May 23, 1981. The topping-out ceremony took place on November 20, 1981. After a year and a half of construction, Bishop Paul-Werner Scheele consecrated the church on October 10, 1982. At the same time the curate was elevated to a parish.
