The Sankt Barbara Spital Münzbach is a listed building built in 1620 on the western outskirts of Münzbach in the Perg district in Upper Austria .

The building, originally built by Georg Schütter (son and heir of Lorenz Schütter ) in 1620 as a hospital for the poor of Altenburg , came into the hands of Joachim Enzmilner in 1639 , who had it expanded for six poor men and six poor women, who financed their maintenance and one Foundation set up.

Georg Schütter had the building erected on the linden field within the castle keep at the western exit of Markt Münzbach, also built a chapel with a Barbara altar and was responsible for covering the deficit of the facility until 1630. From 1630 to 1639, the hospital belonged to the Waldhausen monastery and the provost of the monastery was responsible for covering outflows . Enzmilner donated 1,000 guilders in his will , which was increased by his daughter Eva Magdalena von Windhag . The management and administration of the Sankt Barbara Hospital was one of the duties of the Dominicans of the Dominican Monastery in Münzbach .

Due to good administration and other foundations, the assets grew to almost 10,000 guilders by the 19th century. In the middle of the 18th century, the foundation was a notable financial institution in Münzbach, since the assets were usually loaned to citizens and farmers at interest . In 1848 the foundation became part of the assets of the Münzbach market community and after its dissolution in 1938 it was transferred to the Münzbach market community.

The building was last renovated in 2010 and houses apartments and a childcare facility. It is a stop on the Enzmilner Kulturwanderweg .

The Barbara-Spital has a facade with plaster structure with corner cuboids and cornices . Above the portal is a cartouche with the coat of arms of Joachim Enzmilner and the year 1640.
