The Church of Sant'Ippolito is a titular church of the Roman Catholic Church on Viale delle Provincie in Rome .

history

The building was commissioned by Pope Pius XI. arranged and built in 1933 and 1934 according to the design of the architect Clemente Busiri Vici. The Church was blessed on December 23, 1934, and the first mass was celebrated on the following Holy Night . On May 26, 1935, the parish was founded by decree of Cardinal Vicar Francesco Marchetti Selvaggiani . It was solemnly consecrated to St. Hippolytus the Martyr , whose catacombs are nearby, on October 4, 1938. At first the Church was entrusted to the Franciscans. In 1985 the pastoral care was taken over by diocesan priests . On February 14, 2015, the church was elevated to the title Church. John Atcherley Dew was appointed first cardinal priest in 2015.
