The chapel is located on the artificial hill of a dolmen and was founded by Favila , the second king of Asturias. The current chapel is a reconstruction from 1951 that was built on the same site as the original building, which was destroyed in the Spanish Civil War. According to legend, King Favila and his wife were buried here. In the crypt of the church there is an approximately 4000 year old dolmen remnant, which is decorated with engravings and paintings .
