Santiago Pino (born August 20, 1931 ) is a former Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

Defensive player Pino, who was used in the position of the right half , joined the Montevideo- based Club Atlético Peñarol in 1958 and was part of the squad in the Primera División until 1961 . In the seasons 1958 , 1959 , 1960 and 1961 the "Aurinegros" were each Uruguayan champions. In 1960 and 1961, his club also won the Copa Libertadores, which at the time was still known as the Copa Campeones de América . In the 1960 competition , coach Roberto Scarone put him in the starting line- up in both finals against Club Olimpia . He also played from the start in the two games for the 1960 World Cup , which was ultimately left to opponents Real Madrid . In 1961 the finals of the Copa Campeones de América took place without his participation. However, he was previously used in the semi-finals in the 2-1 away win against Club Olimpia. In the league, he is no longer in the starting eleven that year.
