Sara is a Finnish alternative rock / metal band from Kaskinen .

Band history

Sara was founded in the mid-1990s by Jorma Korhonen, Antti Tuomivirta, Tommi Koivikko and Kristian Udd in the small coastal town of Kaskinen. In 1997 drummer Eetu Uusitalo was added. In 1999 Sara took part in the Ääni ja vimma , Finland's largest music competition for newcomers, and won it, after which the band received a recording contract with the Kråklund Records label shortly afterwards. In spring 2000 the debut album Narupatsaat was released there .

2001 Eetu Uusitalo left the band and was replaced by Niko Leminen. Kromi (German chrome ), the second album, was released in 2002 and entered the Finnish album charts at number 9. The third album Saattue was released the next year . It was not quite as successful in the charts at number 27 as its predecessor, but with the song Ylimäärä ( Eng . Understanding ), for which they received support from Diablo singer Rainer Nygård, the band's first single climbs into the charts and reaches place 16.

After that, the band took a break for three years and then started over with drummer Andreas Bäcklund, who joined the band in 2005. They found a new record label in Universal Music and released their fourth album He kutsuivat luokseen there in September 2006 , which entered the charts at number 12. The resulting single Momentum even reached number 4.

On May 21, 2008, Veden äärelle was released, Sara's fifth and most successful album to date.

Sara began to reorient themselves musically in 2013, which is why the two guitarists Antti Tuomivirta and Tommi Koivikko left the band and Marko Kivelä joined as keyboardist. The new style of music combines influences from synth pop and modern electronics with the well-known melodic-melancholic compositions and lyrics of the band. In 2015 the EP called Ainoat Hereillä was released , which is to become the first part of a conceptual trilogy. On December 11th of the same year the second EP was released with Tyhmä pieni elämä . After the third EP in February, the album Solus was released on March 24, 2016 as a download via ITunes, which compiles the songs of the three EPs. A little later, the album was also released in CD and vinyl format on the company's own music label 6162 Viihde Oy and a new download single was released with Hidas . On December 30, 2016, Hyvä sää was the next single release, independent of the album. On May 25, 2018, Avaa se ovi, the first single from the current album Summa , was released; whose release on September 28 of the same year was accompanied by the second single Ethän vielä kuole .
