Sara Harstick

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sara Harstick (born September 8, 1981 in Hildesheim ) is a former German swimmer . She first started for SG Hildesheim (later renamed EVI Hildesheim ) and before the end of her career for VfV Hildesheim .

At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney , Harstick won bronze in the 4 × 200 m freestyle together with Franziska van Almsick , Antje Buschschulte and Kerstin Kielgaß . Four years later, at the Olympic Games in Athens , Franziska van Almsick, Petra Dallmann , Antje Buschschulte and Hannah Stockbauer also won bronze. Since Harstick had competed in the run-up to this race, she also got a bronze medal.

In addition, on April 16, 2005, she was awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by the Federal President - like her teammates.

Due to the dismissal of her coach Reiner Tylinski , Harstick ended her swimming career in January 2008 because she had been deprived of the “necessary framework” for a renewed Olympic qualification.
