Sarah Churchwell

Sarah Bartlett Churchwell (born May 27, 1970 ) is an American literary scholar.

Life

Sarah Churchwell grew up in Winnetka . She studied English at Vassar College and received her PhD from Princeton University . Churchwell writes literary reviews and features for the major British and US newspapers. Churchwell was on the jury for the Man Booker Prize in 2014 .

Since 1999 she has taught American literature at the University of East Anglia . In 2015 she received a professorship for public understanding of the humanities at the School of Advanced Study (SAS) at the University of London .

She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts .
