Iruste is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island of Saaremaa . It belongs to the rural community Saaremaa (until 2017: rural community Pöide ) in the Saare district .

Population and location

The village has eight residents (as of December 31, 2011). It is located 42 kilometers northeast of the island's capital Kuressaare .

history

Iruste was first mentioned in 1453 under the name Hiras . Today the historic cemetery of Pöide is located in the area of ​​the village .
