Jööri (also Jõõri; historical German name Jöör or Jöhr ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) in the rural municipality Saaremaa (until 2017: rural municipality Valjala ) on the largest Estonian island Saaremaa (German Ösel ).

Location and description

The village has 35 inhabitants (as of 2010). It was first mentioned in a document in 1570.

Since 1998 there has been a private museum on the Madise farm ( Madise talu ). In the museum old agricultural implements are shown and the former farming and rural life in Estonia is shown. The attractions also include a historic forge .

The "Jööri Folk" music festival takes place once a year in Jööri. In July 2011 Jööri's new stage was inaugurated.
