Kõrkküla (German Korküll ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island Saaremaa . It belongs to the rural municipality Saaremaa (until 2017: rural municipality Lääne-Saare ) in the Saare district .

Population and location

The village has 124 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2016).

Kõrkküla is twelve kilometers west of the island's capital Kuressaare on Lake Paadla laht (Padelscher Inland Lake). It was first mentioned in a document in 1570.

Until the beginning of the 18th century there was a poor house and a hospital with a chapel in the village .
