Sagariste is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island of Saaremaa . It belongs to the rural community Saaremaa (until 2017: rural community Pihtla ) in the Saare district .

Population and location

Today the village has only one inhabitant (as of December 31, 2011). It is located on the road connecting the island's capital, Kuressaare, and the Kuivastu ferry port , which leads to mainland Estonia.

Prayer house

Sagariste is best known for its former Baptist prayer house , which stands between the country road and the edge of the forest. It was inaugurated in 1932. Today the wooden church is privately owned, but is still used occasionally for church services.
