Tammese (German Tammiste ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island Saaremaa . It belongs to the rural community of Saaremaa (until 2017: rural community of Kihelkonna ) in the Saare district .

Population and location

The village has three residents (as of December 31, 2011). It is located on the Tagamõisa peninsula, 33 kilometers northwest of the island's capital Kuressaare .

It was first mentioned in 1453 under the name Tappemeck .
