Koikla (German Koiküll ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island Saaremaa . It belongs to the rural community Saaremaa (until 2017: rural community Leisi ) in the Saare district .

Well

The farm was first mentioned in a document in 1399 under the name Koykele . The bishop of the Diocese of Ösel-Wiek lent it to a certain Winrich Berent Rode. From 1520 to 1641 the estate was owned by the German Baltic von Berg family . It was enlarged in the following centuries. In 1909 the peasant land was sold to the Russian Farmer's Agricultural Bank. The core of the estate belonged to the von zur Mühlen family from 1869 until it was expropriated as part of the Estonian land reform .

The single-storey wooden mansion was probably built at the end of the 19th century. It was heavily rebuilt before World War II. For a long time it housed the town's primary school and later a shop. The manor's historic park is still preserved today.
