Arju (German Taggafer ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island Saaremaa . It belongs to the Saaremaa rural community (until 2017: Orissaare rural community ) in the Saare district .

The village has three residents (as of December 31, 2011). It is 37 kilometers northeast of the island's capital Kuressaare .

history

During the Danish rule over the island of Saaremaa (1559 to 1645), the Taggafer farm was built next to the village through loans to the Harrien family . It remained in their property until 1720. The present-day Estonian village name is derived from the family name.
