Kallemäe is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island of Saaremaa . It belongs to the rural community Saaremaa (until 2017: rural community Valjala ) in the Saare district .

Population and location

The village has 39 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). It is located about 25 kilometers northeast of the island's capital Kuressaare .

school

In 1940 the Kallemäe School was founded. In 1976 it was expanded into a boarding school. Today it is a well-known national educational institution for slightly mentally handicapped children.
