Lahetaguse (German Lahhentagge ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the west coast of the largest Estonian island Saaremaa . It belongs to the Saaremaa rural community (until 2017: Salme rural community ) in the Saare district .

Population and location

The village has 21 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). It is located directly on the Baltic Sea in the small bay of the same name ( Lahetaguse laht ), 24 kilometers southwest of the island's capital Kuressaare .

Sons and daughters of the place

The Baltic German admiral and navigator Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen (1778-1852) was born in Lahetaguse .
