Lõmala (German Lemmalsnäse ) is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island Saaremaa . It belongs to the Saaremaa rural community (until 2017: Salme rural community ) in the Saare district .

Population and location

The village has 39 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2011). It is located 21 kilometers southwest of the island's capital Kuressaare .

graveyard

Numerous Soviet soldiers from the Second World War are buried in the Vananõmme cemetery. Among them is the war hero Vladimir Deew (1925–1944), who was fatally wounded on the Sõrve peninsula .

The cemetery is under state protection.
