Mändjala is a village ( Estonian küla ) on the largest Estonian island of Saaremaa . It belongs to the rural municipality Saaremaa (until 2017: rural municipality Lääne-Saare ) in the Saare district .

The village has 158 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2016). Its area is 9.71 km².

The place is eight kilometers southwest of the island's capital Kuressaare directly on the Baltic Sea .

The almost seven kilometer long sandy beach with its dunes and pine trees is particularly popular with beach holidaymakers and kite surfers in summer .
