Jaagarahu port
In 1927, the small port of Jaagarahu was built west of Kurevere and is free of ice even in winter. The plans came from Aleksander Poleschtschuk (1863-1944). In the 1920s and 30s, it was mainly used for export from the nearby calcide mining, which was used from the end of the 19th century until shortly after the Second World War. In 1941 and 1949 the port was the scene of the Soviet mass deportations . After a devastating storm in 1969, the port was not restored.
A popular swimming lake has now arisen in the former open-cast mine.
Cult stone
A total of 76 cult stones were discovered near Kurevere . The oldest date from the first millennium BC.
